[PREX Relay Column No.32] Eight Months to Go Until the Opening of Osaka-Kansai Expo. Further Strengthening Our Networks with Other Countries and Communicating the Attractiveness of Kansai!- PREX Island

Local Governments
METI Kansai Bureau of Economy, Trade and Industry, Director of Internationalization Coordination Planning Mr. Satoru Yamane

The Osaka-Kansai Expo is just over eight months away from opening.

This is the first Expo post COVID-19, and the significance of bringing each and every country together in Osaka and Kansai to deepen exchanges, overcoming the division caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, is enormous. The Expo provides an excellent opportunity for numerous visitors from Japan and abroad to experience not only the Expo site, but also the industry and culture of each region, and to appreciate the splendor of the region.

Along with promoting Kansai’s industries; technologies, products and services; and efforts to address global issues, we will make further efforts to strengthen networks with each country and to communicate Kansai’s attractiveness, serving as a bridge for new business partnerships as much as possible.

First, the “Osaka One-Stop Business Service Desk,” established this past April in cooperation with the Osaka Prefectural and City governments and economic organizations, began providing information in line with a wide variety of requests and assistance for the smooth execution of business events so that overseas mission groups and Kansai enterprises can engage in effective business exchanges.

In addition, there are small and medium-sized enterprises in the Kansai region with cutting-edge technologies and excellent products and services that are looking to expand overseas are developing global strategies with an eye on the world market as a way to further expand their sales channels. We have established a system to introduce the advantages and advanced initiatives of these enterprises to foreign companies visiting with the mission groups.

We will actively promote the attractiveness of Kansai to those who come to Kansai for the Expo, as well as to overseas visitors after the Expo through various channels, thereby contributing to the deepening of business exchanges.

We believe that sustainable business exchanges with foreign countries do not happen overnight, but blossom through a series of encounters and connections between people.

With respect to PREX, through many years of training and other activities with PREX alumni executives and government officials from around the world, we are working toward the realization of a society where people with different values can support each other.

We hope that, by working together with Kansai institutions, the business exchanges between the Kansai region and the rest of the world will continue to deepen, and we would be delighted if we could take this step together with you to create the future of Japan from Kansai.
