PREX Global Network Seminar Implementation Support Program “Toward Expo 2025 Osaka: Insights into the Japanese Market and Commercial Opportunities for Brazilian Companies” ＜March 2024＞
Since its establishment in 1990, PREX has conducted human resource development training programs in Japan and overseas for 19,818 participants from 157 countries and regions. Of these, PREX has established alumni associations in 14 countries/regions for training participants in Japan and has maintained relationships with them through follow-up programs.
In April 2019, we reorganized the network as the PREX Global Network (hereinafter referred to as PGN) with the aim of establishing a network for all participants of the training programs conducted by PREX in Japan, regardless of country or region.
As part of this program, PREX launched the PREX Global Network Seminar Support Program in fiscal year 2021, under which PREX supports PGN members to hold seminars in their home countries. Continuing from fiscal year 2022, the seminar was again held by ApexBrasil (Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency).
ApexBrasil, our counterpart, positions this seminar as a study opportunity for Brazilian companies to enter the Japanese market with a view to participating in Expo 2025 Osaka/Kansai. This seminar was conducted in the form of a Zoom webinar, hosted by the Brazilian side, as a practical seminar to learn about the current situation of the Japanese market and the challenges of entering the Japanese market from the perspective of quality and design, also targeting companies participating in Expo 2025 Osaka/Kansai.
This year’s meeting started at 9:00 a.m. local time (12-hour time difference from Japan), giving priority to the convenience of the Brazilian side. 84 participants (including about 15 staff members of counterpart organizations) attended the meeting, far exceeding the number of participants in the previous meeting, indicating that Brazilian companies are further increasing their momentum to expand their business operations in Japan.
The seminar started with a lecture from ApexBrasil on “Expo 2025 Osaka/Kansai”, followed by a lecture on “Economic Ties between Japan and Brazil”, and from the Japanese side, a lecture by Professor Goto of Kansai University on “The Current State of the Japanese Market and Entry into It” and a lecture by Mr. Yuba on “Product Development for the Japanese Market: Quality and Design” were given. The event was also very lively with additional explanations and exchanges of opinions by all the speakers, and finally, a question-and-answer session in which panelists verbally answered questions from participants via chat room.
